AMIRA International P1202 Far Field and near mine footprints – find the next generation of Tier 1 ore deposits
AMIRA Project P1061A - South American Exploration Initiative (SAXI): The tectonics, architecture and metallogeny of the Proterozoic of north-east South America
An enthusiastic exploration community is supporting the first stage of this exciting new collaborative initiative.
Designed to enhance the exploration potential of the Guiana Shield and neighbouring terranes, the outcomes of the project will also assist exploration companies to focus their exploration activities and help the local Geological Surveys build capacity and enhance their role in the provision of pre-competitive data and information.

The project kicks off on 21 March 2018 with support from Anglo American, AngloGold Ashanti, Avanco Resources, Barrick Gold, Codelco do Brasil Mineracao, Newcrest Mining and Randgold Resources.

The project is still open for sponsorship. Contact Adele Seymon, Program Director - Exploration to Mine,  for more information at adele.seymon@amirainternational.com.

AMIRA P1185 - Superfine Crusher Technology (SFC) demonstration already shows significant efficiencies

AMIRA's P1185 Superfine Crusher (SFC) Technology research team, consisting of IMPTEC and UniSA, have recently conducted trials to demonstrate the efficiency of this SFC technology. The results from the test work performed to date have shown that the IMPTEC Superfine Crusher easily crushes minus 35mm ore to a P75 of 75µm and the IMPTEC Planar Magnetic Separator runs equally well as a wet or dry process.

These tests already demonstrate the potential to significantly reduce costs and improve production by reducing capital costs of comminution, reducing energy costs by 30 percent; providing water savings and reduction in maintenance costs.

The technology has been developed in South Australia and has been supported by a number of influential industry players including Professor Robin Batterham in his paper from 2015. AMIRA,
IMPTEC and UniSA have developed a low-cost demonstration of the technology where sponsors are able to have their ore samples run through the SFC in Adelaide and downstream characterisation and testwork performed at UniSA.

The project is still open for sponsorship. If you are interested in joining these tests or would like more information please contact John Visser, Program Manager, at john.visser@amirainternational.com.

AMIRA P9Q - The Optimisation of Mineral Processes by Modeling and Simulation delivers another sprint of models to benefit sponsors

Amira International's P9Q Project had a two-day Sponsors Review Meeting in Johannesburg on the 21st and 22nd February 2018.

The global research team consists of the University of Capetown, Hacettepe University, Chalmers University, Federal University of Rio De Janeiro, CRC ORE and University of Queensland's Sustainable Mineral Institute Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre.

The project team provided a walkthrough of the models delivered in the current phase of the project (HGPR, Dry Screen, Jig and SAG/AG) and a Knowledge Transfer session of the models with the sponsors in the Integrated Extraction Simulator platform.  The team continues to allow the rapid translation of research to the end user.
